The 2019 raffle prize is a hosted Monterey Bay Cioppino Feed for 12 persons. This can be either a luncheon or dinner by mutual agreement with the host.

This feed will celebrate how lucky we are to live in this beautiful and historic area and to learn how it is protected by the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Your honorary host and hostess will be Dan Haifley, recently retired Executive Director of O’Neill Sea Odyssey, and Rachel Kippen, the new Executive Director. Dan is also a regular contributor of articles for the Santa Cruz Sentinel, a frequent speaker at community events and a long time advocate on behalf of Monterey Bay and the MBNMS. Between Dan and Rachel there is a huge body of knowledge about all things Monterey Bay.

In the course of your feed, Dan and Rachel will make a presentation about a subject to be determined. Perhaps you might want to suggest an area of particular interest to you. They will also be available for Q & A afterwards as well as general schmoozing throughout the event.

In addition to his many years “at the helm” of O’Neill Sea Odyssey and playing a key role in the establishment of the MBNMS, Dan has a pretty fair grasp of Monterey Bay history and has spoken several times regarding the popular new book, Death and Life in Monterey Bay. Rachel can tell you all about today’s O’Neill Sea Odyssey programs and, perhaps, can share a little about her interesting career which has brought this Hawaiian native to Santa Cruz. So there should not be any shortage of interesting topics to chose from.

The presentation will be great food for thought but let us not forget about food for the belly. Cioppino will be the star with a supporting cast of salad, plenty of bread, a sweet finish and wine, beer or non-alcoholic beverages.

We will sell a total of only 50 raffle tickets at $100 each so your chances of winning are excellent. Buy two or more  tickets and your chances of winning improve accordingly. Tickets will be sold in advance as well as at the 5th Annual Hats Off To Vista Center on Nov. 2nd. The lucky ticket will be drawn at Hats Off. You need not be present to win.
